December 31, 2006 3:25 PM- Daisy's first snow

The very last day of the last month of the year and we get our first snow.

As you long-time readers are well aware, Henry and Ollie are the ever lovin' snow monkeys. They revel in the stuff. So it was good to see that our newest addition, despite her Southern Belle origins (she hails from Louisiana), will dash headfirst into the drifts and come up smiling.

If it's not clear from the pictures (because the dogs are reflections of my own self-absorption, non?), you should know that I feel a million times better than when last I wrote. It's always a shock to me to realize that just sitting down and fucking doing whatever the hell it is I keep putting off doing will relieve me of the angst about not doing what I need to be doing.

You know?

I mean, for the love of Pete, it took me all of about 5 hours on Friday to get done what I had been dragging ass on for about, oh I don't know-- 10 fucking days!! Hello.

So there it is. And, it doesn't hurt to wake up in a crystaline wonderland.

As usual, Henry in snow or on dry land, is ever the watchful, helpful, nurturing older brother.

Equally predictable is Oliver: he who must make a snow sandwich out of his baby sis. But she's got spunk to burn and gives as good as she gets.

You know how sometimes you go into someone's office at work and see a random snapshot that they obviously care alot about because they have it framed and it's the only photo in their office, but as often as you look at it, you can't seem to quite see why they would go to so much trouble for that shot?

This next photo is like that. I'm probably the only person in the world who would find this funny, but I do. Beyond words funny. In fact, if I were shown this photo on my deathbed as I lay there with only one breath left in the world I would happily expell it in a gut-splitting guffaw if someone would only hold this photo up in front of my bleary, cataract-ridden, 98 year-old eyes.

Not that I have any desire to live that long, I just kind of sense that I probably will, damn it.

So I'm off to take the brombies out for one last walk before dark as they've got a long night ahead as we'll be out at a New Year's Eve shindig which I trust will be fun and end with most of us out of our festive frocks and gallivanting drunkenly in a hot tub.

I'd like to say for the record that I think you all are just the most incredible spirits and I feel so honored that you swing through now and again to connect with me. (Except for you evil spammer who takes such trouble to annoy me-- you, I'd just as soon as not see in the New Year). I am sending out loads of good wishes to you all for this moment, for tonight, tomorrow-- and for the year ahead.

Here's looking at you, kid.

'And, it doesn't hurt to wake up in a crystaline wonderland.' ... How I long to be able to say those words one day. Everything is so beautiful -- your dogs, the lake (or is that a river?), the mountains, the snow. Especially the snow. Happy new year.

Oh yes, the life of chronic procrastination - I know it well. I would probably put off having this baby if I could - okay, maybe not, but it will be the first time in my life. Love all your snow monkeys - and Daisy is Southern? Woohoo! She brings all the spice and good voodoo from Louisiana, indeed. In the funny picture she looks like she is hollerin', indeed. Have a wonderful New Year, my beloved bluepoppy fairyblogmother forever.

o my, i love these pics and the one of your new pup laughing in the snow made me laugh out loud too. It's definitely frame-worthy! I'm glad to hear you're feeling lighter and brighter. Amazing how the stuff we procrastinate about can weigh us down so much! I go through the same thing so often. You think I'd have learned by now. Enjoy the snow and your golden doggies! Wishing you a year of fuzzy goodness, love and laughter!
